Abstract
Corrections work in a team effort and require ways to communicate effectively. The two types of communication involve one-way and two-way communication. Regardless of the style, the information being sent should be clear, concise, and correct. This applies to employees, co-workers, and inmates. One’s voice and ability to deliver information is a critical piece of equipment. This creates a successful workplace as well as safe.

Once the receiver has the message, they respond to the sender, acknowledging they had received the message. In the business world, two-way communication is crucial. Messages are used to send information between employers, employees, stakeholders, and customers. This requires feedback to ensure the message was understood. Many municipal services depend on two-way communication in order to stay in touch with employees. Common examples of this use of communication is telephone, radio, messaging, or email. It allows supervisors to stay in touch with employees (Mosebrook, Houggy, Palmer Jr, & Spira, 1998). While it is used frequently in corrections facilities, two-way communication is commonly used daily with public transportation, construction, and aviation, just to name a few other areas is used. The way of communicating can differ from a hand held device to more complex systems, such as computers. Two-way is similar as the source sends the information to a receiver, however the receiver can ask questions or give feedback. The digital age has changed the way everything is done. In the 1990’s businesses would handle things through one on one meetings, land line calls, or the postal service. In the current era, businesses handle things through cell phones, websites, media sites, or email. It provides a way of quick interactions and the exchange of information. It is a convenient and fast way to communicate. Many can not comprehend the idea of not having text messaging, email, or cell phones.
