World War II lasted six years, September 1, 1939 – September 2, 1945. The war had two sides: the axis powers and the allies. The war ended with an allied victory. An average of twenty seven thousand people died daily during the war. Nazi Germany was under the command of Adolf Hitler, seven days after the suicide of Adolf Hitler Germany surrendered.
