Tone is an attitude of a writer toward a subject or an audience. Generally, authors have some perspective or attitude when they are writing something regarding to the article or a book. Besides, tone expressed through word choice like adjectives, adverbs, figures of speech which will used in a passage.
According to the Sun daily, the tone of the article are appreciative and concern. Appreciative represent to the author showing the pleasure and thankful which convey in the writing. According to the statement of article, the writer highlighted that there had eight students were traumatised by the incident. According to the statement, the writer had stated the additional information regarding to the 40 Nuri helicopters. He stated that the 40 Nuri helicopters were purchased in 1960s. In 2012, the air force planned to cancel the use of the ageing Nuri fleet. Yet, the programme cannot be done because the lack of budget and funds. Besides, the writer also mentioned that the crash of the Nuri is the 19th in 40 years. There were total of 95 people have died in these crashed. This phrases show that the writer concerns about the Nuri helicopter’s case. So he decides to add on the additional information to let audience understand the seriousness of the case. Besides, he also think that the government should solve the finance problem on the Nuri helicopters to prevent the case …show more content…
Apathetic represent to an emotion that showing little interest and lack of concern about the matter. In the article, the writer mentioned that the people on board the helicopter were safe. Then, he mentioned that the air force officers and personnel were also injured in the crash. He did not write any further explanation on the case and also the approximate of the people injured and suffered from the case. Furthermore, he also did not convey any message to the audience and just simplified the important information. The second tone of the article is callous. It refer to the emotion of uncaring and unfeeling toward the matter. First of all, the author stated that there were no immediate reports of injury among school students and staffs. Meanwhile, news reports said that there were four students injured when the Nuri helicopter crashed onto the school building. Besides, he also mentioned the statement was from the New Straits Times reported. The content or the phrases of the article are almost same as New Straits Times. This may reflect the writer that he is not caring on the case and just take the other news as a reference to write the
