Bodanis's tone was one way he grabbed the reader's attention because he was very humorous and exaggerated the topic throughout his writing. "The craters, slashes, and channels that the chalk tears into the teeth will also remove a certain amount of build-up yellow in the carnage, and it is for that polishing function that it's there." This quote is an example of how Bodanis used exaggeration in his writing to explain the use of chalk in toothpaste. Even though this quote was exaggerated, I found it yet humorous as well due to the exaggeration.
