In the book, Nora is caught up in debt, while her husband thinks they are free from debt. Nora does as much as she can to hide the fact, because she wants to own up to her problem and fix it. “There can be no freedom or beauty about a home life that depends on borrowing and debt.” (Ibsen, 4) Her husband Torvald thinks that homes get ruined over debt, and that there is no beauty in a house with debt. Three different books and three different authors have a different vision as what freedom could be. In different English literature, freedom could be seen as many different symbols. Freedom could be emotions, it could be logical and it could be physical. Freedom could be free of debt, work, and death. Freedom could be acceptance from your family and friends.
