The Tennessee Titans: A Comparative Analysis

Collectively speaking, all four members of the AFC South haven’t had much to get excited about in recent years. While there have been glimmers of hope, particularly for the Houston Texans, having made three Divisional Round appearances (2011, 2012, 2016), the AFC South has been wildly inconsistent, especially following Peyton Manning’s departure from the Indianapolis Colts in 2011. Honestly, the only real consistency has been the Jacksonville Jaguars’ miserable performances, which haven't produced a season above .500 in nearly a decade!

Presently, the Tennessee Titans have serious reasons for optimism. Between their young, promising 2nd-overall draft pick, Marcus Mariota, and coming off of their first season above .500 since 2011, there’s

1 overall pick Andrew Luck unable to remain healthy. Indianapolis followed up three strong 11-5 seasons in 2012, 2013 and 2014 with two mediocre 8-8 seasons in 2015 and 2016. They certainly aren't expected to compete for a division title this year.

The Texans are so inconsistent from year-to-year, it's almost remarkable that they stand 1-2, tied for last in the AFC South and 31st in the league in passing yards. Equally as worrying, Houston’s home opener against the Jaguars was disastrous, a 29-7 loss that sent the starting quarterback debate into a spiral of both confusion and misery for Houston fans.

Realistically, the Colts are in rebuild mode and Houston, should they stay on their current path to destruction, needs a major offensive makeover at the end of the season.

Tennessee has reasons to get excited. Unfortunately, a lot of that excitement stems from the potential to shine in one of the NFL’s weakest divisions, where the once laughing stock Jaguars are early contenders. Watch for a division title race between the Titans and Jags this season.

Unless Houston turns around their offensive slump, this year’s AFC South title race shouldn't be a four-way nail biter by any

Based on my SWOT analysis, I think that the Jacksonville Jaguars will be ready to relocate to London within the next five years. With an already successful International Series being played annually in London, it’s only a matter of time before those “annual” games become weekly. And as the people of London’s passion and intensity for American football grows to level of their counterparts in the US, we are taking one step closer to the future of the NFL. III. Target Nation Analysis A. London has expanded rapidly over the last 20 years, from 18.7% to 22.7% of GDP between 1997 and 2015 and with a further increase to 24.8% of GD by 2022.…

2017 is an intriguing year for the Redskins for a multitude of reasons. Kirk Cousins now is in the midst of a long-term contract negotiation, his top two wide receivers left via free agency, the Redskins defense is coming off a historically bad season, the new defensive coordinator Greg Manusky along with the team’s new additions is having positive reviews so far this off-season, and the front office is fresh out of a messy divorce with their former general manager Scot McCloughan and made an in-house replacement with Doug Williams under a different title. All this to say, what happens in 2017 is of paramount importance, and can shape the near future of the organization. There are a few Redskins who are worth noting that will be a key cog in determining the outcome of not only the season, but how their future in the nation’s capital.…

If they can draft well they can set themselves up for years to come. The majority of the first round picks that the Browns have drafted that are no longer on the team had or serious problems leading up to the draft. For example Johnny Manziel was known to be a excessive partier and alcoholic and they took a chance on him anyway. Brandon Weeden was 28 years old when he was drafted(McManamon, “Browns cut QBs”), to put that into perspective the average age of a NFL draftee is 23.1 years(Stuart). You could go on and on about the problems these guys have had, but what the Browns need to do is simply draft smarter.…

Former QB/WR David Sills left the program to attend a JUCO school in California but in a surprise move made his way back to WVU and looks to have the inside track to start at WR this season with Gibson and Shorts leaving. WVU also added Reggie Roberson and Dominique Maiden to the fold at wide receiver. Roberson has a special skill set that Holgorsen likes in his receivers but Maiden could benefit the most with his size (6'6) especially in the red zone. Again though don't forget that West Virginia will also have electrifying threat Steven Smothers, who redshirted last season. Speaking of electrifying, Tevin Bush is just that when he has the ball in his hands.…

Introduction New Orleans, Louisiana was awarded its first National Football League franchise on November 1, 1966. The franchise became the 16th team in the National Football League and was named the Saints due to the fact that the birthday of the franchise falls on the Roman Catholic Church’s All Saints Day; widely appropriate considering New Orleans is predominately a Catholic city. The city of New Orleans and its beloved franchise has had to deal with some of the most adverse situations imaginable. For example, on August 29, 2005 Hurricane Katrina devastated the city of New Orleans and caused widespread damage to the Saints home stadium, the Louisiana Superdome. That year the Saints went just 3-13 however, bounced back in 2006 with a trip…
