In the story “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allen Poe the author uses good word choice and descriptive adjectives to develop the mood and the characters feelings in the story. First, in the book when it says “And I grew furious as I gazed upon it” the reader can really infer on how the character is feeling at this time as he’s staring down the vulture eye. Later in the book when it says “While I myself, in the wild audacity of my perfect triumph, placed my own seat upon the very spot beneath which reposed the corpse of the victim.” it tells the reader how careless the character got and how he no longer really cared about what happened next. Finally, in the book when it said “Hard blue eye, and the blood in my body became like ice” it just gives the reader the chills up your spine as a reader and wanting you to read more but also afraid of what might happen next.
