I agree with acknowledging the drug or alcohol use. Although, I believe narrative focus therapy and coping instrument techniques alongside other collaborative techniques and other psychodynamic theoretical framework. It will steer the individual to seek treatment after dealing with the underlying of other issues, substance or alcohol support the client problem. Normally to escape from reality and their problems so consciously they know they use and unconsciously they may believe it’s not controlling them and they control their usage. Meanwhile, using for pleasure, after having a hard day, socially and other reason’s even to clear the head.…

In the book 50 Great Myths of Popular Psychology, myth 24 is that “Happiness is Determined Mostly by our External Circumstances”(Lilienfeld, Lynn, Ruscio,& Beyerstein 122). The myth is that to be happy we need to have lots of money, a gorgeous house, a great job, and plenty of pleasurable events in our lives(Lilienfeld, Lynn, Ruscio,& Beyerstein 123). This myth came to belief mainly by word of mouth. Due to the fact that from birth a child is lead to believe by society's standards that if you have a well paying job and a good family everything will be perfect and you will achieve happiness. This relates to word of mouth because from generation to generation children and young adults are told that our happiness depends on our external circumstances (Hale).…
I think the perspective that describes and explains human behavior is psychodynamic perspective. I think cognition perspective is always going to be a major problem in humans. I say problem because I know for a fact that every person including myself have or had second thoughts, made decisions or have tried to improve our lives, but still not seen any change. Psychodynamic is the best perspective that explains the mental process because it plays a big factor on our mind. In my experience, I struggle with psychodynamic perspective because coming from a different country and not knowing the language made a big impact in my mind.…
Human behavior is complex, diverse, dynamic, and even though I have been a witness to a wide range of erratic behavior (mine included), it still can surprise me. People’s behavior is enigmatic at times and many therapists have developed theories to illuminate them. A variety of things can influence people’s behavior, but how these influences can be explained depends on context and the theoretical approach the counselor takes. As a future change agent, I believe it is important to have a grasp on the different theories available today and their techniques.…
The Cognitive Perspective is considered to be a relatively new or modern approach in the field of psychology in regards to the study human behavior that started gaining attention around the late 1950s leading to what is also known as the “Cognitive Revolution” during which the definition of psychology started to deviate from the inclination to be classified as a study of behaviour given that pre-1950s, psychology was deemed as the study of behaviour by experimental psychologists who were influenced by the work of psychologists going along the lines of Pavlov’s work which emphasized on behaviorism arguing that the most objectively observable evidence is that which can be seen externally i.e., behavioral (Miller, 2003) The cognitive perspective allowed researches to come up with conclusions regarding the characteristics of cognitive processes through the observation of certain behaviours in terms of consistency in behaviour, measurable by the rate of forgetting and reaction. The major emphasis of the cognitive perspective leans towards the study of cognitive function as the name suggests or in other words, the study of mental processes inclusive of but not limited to; attention, memory, language, perception and thinking. (McLeod, S. A. 2008)…
Judicial death is an embarrassment to this country and should not be a sensible chastisement for persons with an intellectually handicap. By partaking in this inhuman act, and having it legalized in thirty one of the fifty states is ghastly. Society has long been ambivalent about psychological illnesses; and the fight has always been to treat mentally ill people as equals, but if an individual’s IQ is not even up to par with an average aptitude rating, this said person should not be eligible to receive one of the highest sentences our government can bestow upon someone. Individuals with psychological obstacles are at a greater risk of wrongful convictions and death rulings.…
Criminologists – the examiners of criminal behavior, its causes, and effects on society – have tried to understand what ‘triggers’ these individuals to act out. Within this field, a way of understanding criminality is through the psychological frame of reference, which is where psychology finds its niche in the CJS. For example, Humanistic psychologists would claim that individuals have the free will to decide how we behave (thus are unpredictable), psychoanalysts would claim that individuals have underlying, unconscious fixations that may influence the likelihood of certain behaviors, and biological psychologists would claim that behavior can be influenced through our physiological, genetic, and developmental components. However, it would be naïve for anyone to interpret the relationship between our psychology and criminal behavior as simply black or white. When determining when an individual is applicable for the use of this defense, advocates against its use tend to argue that individuals will take advantage of this as a form of protection from ending up in jail for their actions, as well as there is no true way of determining if their actions were of their own doing or out of their control.…
The Field of Psychology In the beginning of psychology it was a unique type of philosophy with a subjective or theoretical way of thinking about human beings and their behavior and mental process. Physiology is the study of how all body processes function, including the electrical and chemical processes necessary for nervous system communication. There are five major perspectives in psychology starting with biological, psychodynamic, behavioral, cognitive and last is a humanistic approach. The biological perspective can be exercised in figuring out how disorders like schizophrenia develop from genetic roots.…
The understanding of the three theoretical approaches you have to know what deviance mean in sociology. Deviance means any violation of norms and it is not the act itself, but the reactions to the act, that make something deviant. For example, someone running over the speed limit sigh or as serious as murder. It doesn’t matter how minor or how big the act is only that it only the reaction it obtains from doing it. The three theoretical approaches are symbolic interactionism, functionalism, and conflict theory.…

Inside Out is the perfect mixture of Disney’s Pixar Animations and the psychology of memory to create an educational movie for not just young children, but for adults as well. Many adults to this day do not have a clue as to how our memory works, and this movie is a great way to interest an adult to learn more. Arguably the saddest scene of the movie is when Bing Bong is permanently forgotten, and this causes one to wonder how forgetting really works. Inside out demonstrates the basic concepts of how memories are forgotten within our brain.…
Criminal Psychology Introduction: Criminal psychology is the study of the intentions and behaviours of criminals. Criminologists apply psychology to crime in order for them to uncover the criminals reasoning for committing the crime. This is not a job that many people know about but I believe that it is a very important job so that the police and other agencies have information about what and who they are dealing with. I had a short limited amount of prior knowledge about this topic but from researching it further I have accumulated much more information and have created 3 key questions that I will be exploring. First I will be analysing the question How can criminal psychology help the criminal justice system and other agencies deal with…
There are four Major Theoretical Perspectives of Social Psychology. The first is Sociocultural where an individual’s behavior is influenced by their surroundings. Second, is Evolutionary, this is how an individual’s psychological traits contribute to survival. Another theoretical perspective is known as Social Learning, which explains how an individual’s past experiences will drive them to either perform a task or not, depending on whether they experienced positive or negative reinforcement. Finally, comes Social Cognitive perspective which describes how an individual will choose where to focus their attention in a given situation.…
