Manifest Destiny was a very strong belief that the US was meant to expand from coast to coast. This “strong belief”, actually came true. Getting all of this land wasn’t so easy though. One of the steps that the Americans went through, was the Louisiana Purchase from the French and Napoleon, in order to keep New Orleans port open and to give France money (April 30th 1803). After America bought this property, Thomas Jefferson wanted this new land to be Explored. He chose his secretary Meriwether Lewis. Meriwether Lewis chose his trusting friend William Clark, and this all started their expedition. The next order of events was the Battle of Alamo, General Santa Anna and the Mexicans fought against Texians and Tejanos prepared to defend the Alamo
