The Continental Army was created by the second continental congress once the revolution started. The head of the continental army was George Washington and he trained them to be good soldiers. Also, many Native Americans and African-Americans joined the war, which increased the whigs numbers. On the other hand, Great Britain had many disadvantages when it came to the military because they were farther away and had to ship their arms and men.
