Unfortunately, The United States is not even close to this basic level of social equality. There is a paradox saying that “US is the richest nation in the world, but has the most unequal distribution of wealth among industrialized nations” (Kelsey, Lecture. Sep 20). This kind of unequal distribution also reflects in the educational system which was influenced by social policy, unequal conditions among the communities, and unfair distribution of wealth. In this paper, I will explore the relationship between social inequality and our educational system. I will argue that equality in education would contribute to individual success and social development significantly. For those kids who come from rich families or middle class families, they don’t worry about their basic needs of living. Their innate sense of superiority gives them confidence in doing everything. Since their young ages, the parents have done quite a lot of things to make sure their kids to be great. They send their kids to different kinds of after-school programs or activities to explore their talents. They teach their kids by sharing their experiences and culture capital from their families. As a result, these kids feel that they are the leaders of the school and definitely would be the leaders of this society. In the opposite, those kids from poor and working class families are more self-reliance. They don’t get enough cares from their parents because their parents focus more on getting food, clothing, and basic needs for their families.
