When you look at political geography there is different topics to look at. These are nation, territory and state. These three scales or topics are very important in defining what political geography is. A nation is a named human population who share the same culture, history, laws and currency. By sharing these things in one place, these people begin to gain to take over a certain territory. This leads to the next topic which is territory. Territory is a space or place occupied by a certain group of people. This space is “organized and managed by a social group, individual person or institution to restrict and control access to people and places” ( Gregory et al. 2009; 746 ). Finally, a state is a defined area of land which has boundaries occupied by a sovereign community. This means that one party has independent authority over the state. A state is then run by a government who enforce taxation, police, judiciary and military. When looking at nations, territory and states you can see the connection with Economic Geography in relation to the Global Economy. The leaders of these nations and states cannot make any of the aforementioned points possible with the right economy behind them. Without funds to do so there is high chance that these nations or states would thrive in todays global
