Many think that fashion might be a silly topic to learn or talk about, but hopefully the people that have that idea changed their overview about learning or talking about fashion after reading this. Fashion is definitely a business/career like no other job. Fashion is all around us, people have different types of style since a lot of style of clothing were invented, if one were to create a new type of style or brand that the community may want to buy the product then that’s a successful business. A certain topic that will be discussed is the history of communicating. Communication is a massive change that could have happened in this earth. In the past, people would travel around to the other locations just to deliver the message to the other person. This topic will help students understand what it was like without the technology that we use to communicate. The goal towards this discussion is for students to possibly like the idea of technology that involves the ability to communicate with others. Perhaps this class can involve Flores

Our present society is much different from the society of Bourgeois people of the eighteenth-century. The advancements in technology overtime ended isolation, and people began to communicate through the technology rather than meeting others in person. Gopnik writes, “it is in the nature of the telegram to be a skeletal version of another thing- a communication that opens more than it closes…. E-mails end with a suggestion for a phone call… All are devices of perpetually suspended communication” (Gopnik 7). The author explains that the technological developments in our society has led us to be more “busy” and communicate less in person.…

Communication is a way of expressing one's thoughts or ideas to other humans. Back in time, humans did not have news, media, phones and the internet to keep them connected to family and friends. Unsurprisingly, people out there today take this technology for granted because they rely on these inventions to stay in touch. Everyone in the world wants to know about what has happened as soon that information is available to the general public. The Gilded Age and the Roaring Twenties did not have these simple and effective technologies.…

In this course, History 102 Western Civilization Post 1689, the five things I have learned are: Galileo Galilei’s life and accomplishments, political and social thought in the Enlightenment, the industrial revolutions in Europe, Russian Revolution, and the era of totalitarianism. I feel that this course had taught me so much about topics that I only learned a small amount about in my educational career. The topics I have selected are ones that I feel made a large impact in the world, and some in my life, and that without these events, the world would be different. The first event I selected was Galileo Galilei, his life, and his accomplishments.…

One problem I learned from class, is that women are currently still face many issues that were once thought of as being resolved. Issues such as wage discrimination, job discrimination, sexualization, and violence are only a few of the many issues we are challenged with. Not only do women still deal with these issues but we also endure sexism on a day to day biases. These issues never came to my attention in my everyday life. However, through taking this class it made me socially aware of the issues that I was facing but was not conscious of.…

Texting is something all teenagers do when they want to contact others. In the 1950’s, texting was not even invented. People would actually interact face to face. If texting were available in J.D. Salinger's The Catcher In The Rye, Holden would have been able to communicate better with others. He would have been able to contact his sister without worrying about his parents picking up.…

Fashion itself is a reflection of social, economic, political and cultural changes. In the last thirty years, luxury industries have only cared about getting profit, making quality their second priority. Fashion has also had its share with politics. Starting from 1959, it was a blonde-haired doll with a ‘womanly’ figure, a handsome boyfriend and tailored interchangeable outfits that took the world by storm. Since then, the fashion industry has changed dramatically for dresses, blouses, shirts, skirts and shoes.…

Technology--the plague of society to some, and heaven's greatest blessing to another. The perspective of it changes its meaning. To schools, this perspective becomes essential to the prospects of how much the education system, and even the public, may change because of it. While technology will, and has, brought vast opportunity to those with access to it, to pay the price of experience can be fatal to the next generations if there is not a balance of technology and human interaction within the education system.…

To me, fashion is something that is truly incredible and inspirational. I am fascinated by not only how the clothes you wear can express your personality to those around you, but also how a collection of seemingly uninteresting materials can be transformed into something beautiful and that people are willing to pay money for. Being from Somerset, I have been privileged to have the iconic Mulberry brand on my doorstep. I was introduced to the brand through my grandmother, who was a seamstress for the company. She often told me of how everyday she watched simple pieces of leather be turned into stunning bags, that would be sold all over the world.…

Some fast fashion stores use child labour which creates a huge ethical issue, they also have a lot of wastage of resource and materials. This plays a negative impact on the environment which burdens the already increasing problem of climate change. So after educating myself about these issues the question that I asked myself was that “how am I going to create a fashion line for young women with low finances?”. The solution being that I will create a line that will provide fashionable trendy styles at a reasonable price and that my line would have to offer more wearability and efficiency. This line will be a customized clothing line focusing on women with low finances.…

Many students do not have the opportunity to experience a class that influences their lives, but I was fortunate enough to have such an experience. The subject that has influenced me the most is AP Environmental Science (APES). The class focuses on the world we live in and explains how people’s actions can either harm or benefit the environment. With each chapter, the teacher provided real world examples, along with important analysis, to describe how humans affect their own ecosystems. Such an example is how China continues to deplete the world's resources and how there are many different types of sustainable ways to get energy through which I never knew existed.…
