Moreover, only when her life was threatened did the grandmother even think of or mention God and when she realized that her religion went against The Misfit’s, she immediately denied her faith. Whilst The Misfit seems like the obvious antagonist, ironically, the grandmother is actually the antagonist. Although it may seem like The Misfit is the clear candidate for the antagonist, as he is a criminal, killer, and shot the grandmother “three times through the chest,” when looked at critically, the grandmother proves to be the true antagonist.
