Today and in the future of people technology has been a relevant factor all around. We as people, have become very dependent among technology in schools, work, and play. When regarding to play, let’s refer to video games. The main consumers for violent video games are teens because they get more and more realistic as time goes on. These games encourage killing and fighting enemies. The violence that these games promote have been around for many years. In 1993, there was a public outcry for the release of these violent games. The controversy over these games resurfaced after a massacre in 1999, which was committed by 2 gamers. However, the violent video games are seen to be the cause of mass shootings, the reason of increases in bullying, and the violence towards women. It is time to make a stand against these games and try to pull and more positive outcome from these games and it starts with parents. When it all balls down the fingers are also pointed at the parents. Instead of buying your children all of these unmoral and unfriendly games, they should put their money to more studious games for their children to participate in. Also, put yourself in a situation and think as a parent or an older sibling, would you want your child or little brother to get beat up by a kid at school who just wanted to try a drop kick move he learned on a game. Absolutely not, bullying is both physically and mentally hurtful and no one should have to go through that, but if taking away the violent video games will help reduce numbers it is time to take a stand. Also, would you want your mother to be raped or verbally disrespected by a kid who has leaned this disrespectful behavior from these games towards women, more specifically your own mother? Just think about how much that would harm your mother and lower her self-esteem because she is being looked down on due to a game. Lastly, you never know when your last day will come. If you decide to go watch a movie one day, enjoying your life, and all of a sudden a mass shooting happens and you witness 4 murders and then have a gun turned on you because of a learned behavior from a video game.
