The idea of sending people into outer space to explore was considered a pure fantasy; yet over a few generations and persistence, there was a man walking on the moon, and a few years later the first people are people live off of earth year round (Hadfield). Exploration is a part of being a human and has been through every generation of humans. Since the first paleo indians spread across the globe, to Spaniards making the discovery of America people have always been exploring (Boyer 42). Ever since being an infant and learning to walk, to being a teenager that leaves home to experience the real world. As adults, exploration has been expanded from your living room, or city, to exploring our entire planet and what surrounds …show more content…
After having our solar system been observed for centuries and studied in detail for decades, just recently a new planet was discovered within our solar system. This Planet is called Planet 9 and was just recently discovered thanks to mathematical modeling and computer simulation (Watts). This new discovery is important to space exploration because it proves that there is more to know about our solar system. The discovery of Planet 9 also sparked the interest of many scientists including Buzz Aldrin who was among the first people to ever to walk on the moon. He has been an avid encourager and reminds us about the importance of space by saying “the planetary census of our solar system is clearly unfinished business” and “That’s what space exploration is all about- defining new boundaries. A potential new planet offers great satisfaction for those of us who look for things out there”
