Smoking Bans

We see people smoking, everywhere; in their cars, at their house, in bars, outside, at parks, almost anywhere at almost any time. We see our dad smoking a pipe on the couch, we see our friends mom smoking at the park, we see our own family and friends with cigarettes in hand puffing away. Smoking bans are set to help save the lives of smokers, non-smokers, and the environment around us.
Smoking harms the human body in many ways. Although some people tend to believe smoking helps them when it actually harms them more. Smoking attacks the immune system, causing the smoker to have breathing problems, and various lung and heart diseases like cancer. It also increases the chances of Type Two Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and other autoimmune diseases. Recently science has found that it may link to decreased bone density. Smoking causes other diseases and health problems. These include atherosclerosis, aneurysms, cardiovascular diseases like Coronary heart disease, heart attack, chest pain, and high blood pressure. Other health problems also include coronary heart disease, and stroke. Cigarettes hold many chemicals that cause damage to lungs, trachea, bronchus, esophagus, stomach, bladder, and many other vital organs. These chemicals also …show more content…
There are people who feel that if a woman were pregnant, smoking around them would not hurt her or the baby. However, this is entirely false; women and their babies are at risk of being critically affected by secondhand smoke. Women who breathe in secondhand smoke can lose their babies, give birth to smaller babies, or lose children due to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) they can also have children with birth defects ("Protect Your Loved Ones."). When you smoke and a woman who is pregnant breathes in the second hand smoke, you are not only harming that woman, but you are also harming her
