Living in today’s world of obstetrical medicine, biological sciences and technology has come together to detect if a fetus will have different genetic Disorders. Preimplantation Genetic Disorder (PGD) is used when screening on a cell from the embryo, for genetic defects. This allows couples to know if they are going to continue with the implant of the embryo. PGD also starts with the course of Invitro fertilization that consists of the egg retrieval and fertilization. Embryos are made in invitro and a combination of oocytes removed from the woman who reproduces. Sperm is than removed from her donor or partner. In addition to this, There have been numbers of births arising in our nation and majority of them have been used with fertility treatment. …show more content…

Physicians have found ways to treat these genetic disorders before pregnancy or after pregnancy. In result pre-implantation Genetic disorders has its advantages and disadvantages. At this point, couples take this into consideration. This will give the physician and the parents a clear understanding to decide if they are going to have a healthy baby. While This screening detects if the embryo for any genetic disorders, it also give people options to pick and choose different traits for the child( such as eye color and skin complexion). PGD has help many people reduce medical expenses due to complication that can occur in many birth defects.
