There has been much criticism and speculation as of late to the future of football. Recent studies have emerged about a degenerative brain disorder called chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), and have linked the disorder to football, causing for questions to arise on whether or not football is safe. Some people are calling for the sport to be outlawed in light of this research. While the sport may be dangerous, it is naive to think that outlawing football will fix this issue. The only way to help lower chances of getting CTE is prevention. If we outlaw football, it will decrease chances of the former athletes getting into colleges, ridding them of an education that could’ve been paid for through scholarships.
