There are so many controversies nowadays in the United States alone, and abortion remains one of the hot topics. “Abortions are very common nowadays. In fact, 3 out of 10 women in the United States have an abortion by the time they are 45 years old” (Abortion, 2014). Abortion is an act of terminating a growing human life within a mother’s womb either medically or surgically. When it comes to abortion there are many different methods to terminate one’s pregnancy. Medical abortion is when a woman takes a pill early in the course of pregnancy to abort a fetus. Wade “case gave strength to the argument that a woman should be allowed the right to have privacy over matters that relates to her own body, including pregnancy” (Fremgen, 2009, pg. 280). This particular case gave opportunities to many women to get an abortion that is performed legally with a safe practice. Before this law had passed many women were self-inducing abortion by taking medications, throwing themselves down the stairs, using chemicals, using coat hangers and many more (Socialistic Workers, 2005). By using these horrendous methods to perform abortions, women were jeopardizing their health with a complication of infection, hemorrhage, and possible death. With the legalization of abortion, many women are getting these procedures done under safe and sterile practice from a certified physicians. The “legalizing” of abortion may not seem like a “right” idea to many people, but if we look at the whole picture, no matter what somewhere someone will get pregnant on “accident” and would want to seek abortion whether it is legal or illegal. In my opinion, I think it is safer to legalize abortion so a woman does not have the need to self-induce her own abortion or throw herself down the stairs which can lead to serious health complications and even
