Parents are said to be children’s greatest role models. Children are like sponges; they can easily absorb almost anything, be it either bad or good. Children will see a parent’s example as a pattern for the way life is to be. Some disadvantages may stem from being raised in a single parent household. Whereas, many years ago, the norm was having both parents involved in showing both young children and adolescents what is right and wrong and the do 's and don 'ts of life. Today there are many families lacking either a mother or father. The stress from being a single parent can really impact a child. Stresses of a parent can lead to lack of communication, poor discipline, and lack of positive attention for a child. Today’s families are fast-paced and leave no room to spend quality time with a child. In return, there are no limits or boundaries set, parents are not consistent with the child, and there are little to no discipline. Also, families are so fixed on financial struggles, it is not fair to the child. Both father and mother are forced to pursue a job or career, just to keep food on the table for the child, leaving parenting to the older siblings to look after the younger ones. The beliefs, customs, arts, of a particular society, group, place, or time. It is big part of everyday life growing up as a child and even into adulthood. This alone is more impacting on one’s behavior than one realizes. It’s basically all you know, all what you have been faced with. So in return it would come natural to a child if negative behavior is presented to them. Through friends, family, the neighborhood that they are raised, too. The saying that it takes a village to raise a child is really true. Also, the beliefs that are taught to the young child can result in disruptive actions.
