A better transportation is one thing mankind has always craved for. We want a faster and an easier way to go from one place to another. Just imagine that you are a person that lives in the mid-1800s. You want a transportation that goes really fast and goes far distances. Taking a train would be hard because the train station is far. This means you cannot commute to far distances really quick. However, now we have a mode of transportation that is in most households. This works as easy as turning the keys on, fastening your seat belt and you're ready to go. You can go far distances quickly by this means of transportation. This revolutionary invention that changed the world is called the ‘car’.

The reason is because it uses less greenhouse gases than gasoline powered vehicles. As a fact, electric cars release no pollutants directly to the air. How are electric cars better for the environment when electricity can be generated from coal/fossil fuel power plants? According to Chip Gribben, electric cars use half as much fossil fuel even when being used by fossil fuel power plants. Also, if the energy is produced in coal power plants, electric cars would reduce as much as 22% compared to gasoline powered cars. An EU study shows that it will reduce 33% or more by 2020. Due to the development of alternative energy, fossil fuel energy will decrease by the years. Another reason electric cars are better for the environment is because it could reduce number of deaths from air-pollution. As a matter of fact, the National Academies of Sciences have discovered that the death ratio can be reduced by 70%, if we use renewable energy. Electric vehicles can help our health because it is better for the environment. It could help with health issues such as lung infections and even asthma. Lastly, the government of Canada gives rebate (cash back) towards buying an electric vehicle. This shows that the government supports electric cars because they are eco-friendly. A study by the NFPA says, in 2016, there were about 173,000 car fire incidents occurred in the United States alone. In fact, a big reason is because gasoline is a substance that could potentially catch on fire. In comparison, electric cars are more safe and there is very less chance of fire related accidents. In fact, according to Tesla (electric car manufacturer), there is a car fire every 20 million miles driven in average on a gasoline powered car. On the other hand, electric cars have an average of 1 fire incident at every 100 million miles driven. This means, there is 5 times less chance for an electric car to catch a fire. Also, an ordinary gas car has thin metal sheet to protect the underside of the vehicle that could lead to the fuel tank to get destroyed.
