Our society says one thing and then does another. They say education is the key to success; but then again there are people that are successful that never got an education higher than high school. This is the reason why the educational system is 50/50 between students that want to learn and students that do not. This being because most students where I am from try to get the easy way out and when they see people that are successful that never went to college they think that they can do that as well. It’s sad to say, but not everyone is born the same, you have to earn what you want, the hard way. This is significant because some people make the best out their environment despite what is going on. Also, in The Freedoms Writers by Gruwell another student says “Raised in a shitty neighborhood, I have to adapt to what is happening around me...I got into tagging, because bangin and dealing drugs or kickin’ it with gangsters were not my thing” (21). He realized that he would not be a part of the violence in the city he was raised up in, but instead get
