The Pros And Cons Of Briefing

Decent Essays
Working at the base affords me the opportunity to sit through at least one long briefing a week. These briefings are held and conducted by a varying complement of the base’s senior leadership. The theme is usually the current state of the base, both the positive and negatives of the situations and current hot topics. At some point these briefings always to turn to some upcoming change or new process about to be implemented. This is where the briefings always turn downhill. The speaker apparently knows about as much of topic as we the audience do. The moment they start stumbling through the item, shows they have no understanding of what they are trying to say. This broken briefing becomes so confusing for us listens to interpret, we are left

A mandatory residential team meeting will occur Monday to address the overall functioning of the residential department. We are currently functioning in an overtime and contracted staffing deficit exceeding a combined total of 400k and not to mention that we have 3 months remaining in the 2016 fiscal year. As mentioned back in January we have to implement structure and reiterate expectations before we can anticipate change.…

This piece of evidence is an edTPA Planning Commentary and my Practicum Reading Conference reports. These artifacts were created based on two kindergarten learners, focusing on reading, during my practicum time (10+ hours) completed at St. Stand’s Elementary School (a Stevens Point parochial school). I used Boushey and Moser’s 2009 Reading Conference Form to document my student’s reading behaviors, progress, and needs, which I noticed during our meeting times. After conducting several oral reading processes, I noted that both student’s central focus should be automaticity and accuracy. The edTPA Planning Commentary and Reading Conference reports were written and adapted to meet the assignment requirements for my Methods and Materials for Teaching…

During my time in the Army, I have had plenty of obstacles, one in particular would be when I was a RTO (radio tech operator) and we were attached to another battalion to go raid a village. We patrolled all night until we walked twelve miles to our location avoiding helicopters flying in the sky looking for us. Once we finally set up an OP (observation post) we had a team go out and recon the village and we established a plan on how we were going to attack the village. My squad only had about nine of us, so we were not initially part of the main element to go in and assault the village. However, as we started creeping up to the first obstacle, a fence, helicopters started patrolling for us again.…

He did not brief the Administration or Logistics paragraphs, but just said “Same as the base order, we’re not changing anything.” He did not provide the location of the Platoon Commander or Platoon Sergeant and did not have a succession of command, only briefing it after being prompted by a team…
