Imagine not ever again being able to see your family or going back to your house. This is the case for Adnan Syed, the defendant in the murder case “Serial”, which involves Adnan, and his friend Jay, and the victim Hae Min Lee. This podcast is produced by Sarah Koenig who investigated this case for a period of time. Forgetful Adnan’s religion supports the idea that he killed Hae Min Lee along with multiple story inconsistencies.
Adnan’s religion influenced his actions to kill Hae Min Lee. Let’s begin by stating that Adnan is a muslim which in their faith does not allow them to date other people outside of their religion. Hae is not Muslim, so when Adnan finally tells her that he is not allowed to date her Adnan says “ I am going to hell because

Now one would come to the conclusion that you would not forget the day that you killed someone, but not in Adnan’s case. He could not remember anything. There was one substantial detail that stood out to me about this day and it’s that Adnan got a call from Officer Adcock about Hae’s disappearance. Sarah Koenig asks Adnan, “would not the call from Officer Adcock make it not a normal day?” (Koenig, “The Case Against Adnan Syed”). That is a huge detail from this day because usually you would remember a day that a cop calls you. You would remember where you were, what you were doing, who you were with. In fact Koenig says “you were young, you were high, it is a scary call to get.” (Koenig, “The Case Against Adnan Syed”). In case you did not know, Adnan smokes weed which some could believe why he does not in fact remember the call from the police. But contrary to that, he should not have been able to tell that he was high if he could remember that but not the call. Adnan comes right out and tells us “I do remember being high at the time because the craziest thing is to be high and have the police call your phone. I will never forget that.” (Koenig, “The Case Against Adnan Syed”). Being able to remember this detail but not being able to recall anything us from the day can lead us to believe that he killed Hae on this day and he is trying to cover up for it by

Q1 The Simon Gittany Murder Case features an intimate femicide. This is evident in how the perpetrator, Gittany, behaved and how he treated his partner, Lisa Harnum, prior to her death. Intimate femicide almost always consists of the perpetrator being possessive and controlling of his partner, and also features a sudden outburst of rage before the homicide takes place. Both of these factors occurred in the case, and were thus referred to domestic violence.…

In Baltimore Adnan Syed was known for the most part as the nice, sweet, charming guy that is incapable of committing murder. Where as Jay Wild was known as more of the “bad boy” dealing drugs and was someone you would not want to mess with. Some peers also noted that he was one to fabricate stories so knowing when he was telling the truth could be a hard task. With two outstanding different reputations the setting helped the audience lean in favor of the villain, Adnan. Accusing Jay of lying was an easier coping mechanism than accepting the fact someone like Adnan was capable of murder.…

Adnan Syed - Guilty Ever since “The Judiciary Act of 1789”, the United States courts system has been accurately convincing some of the most ruthless and dangerous criminals the world has seen. It has been able to accurately distinguish the difference between innocent and guilty and kept lying criminals from escaping unscathed. The case of Adnan Syed is no different, even though Serial a podcast series narrated by Sarah Koenig may suggest differently. It is evident that Adnan is culpable of killing his ex girlfriend Hae Min Lee because his claim of innocence just does not make sense, and the fact he has a reasonable motive makes him very suspicious; that combined with a witness named Jay, who was willing to testify against his good friend…

Certainly the jurors thought it was a crime of passion, although the judge did not think it was not a good motive. The jurors during this case were as quick as lightning and convicted Adnan of first-degree murder, in under two hours. How can a jury convict someone for first degree murder in under two hours, especially not having enough evidence to prove Adnan did kill Hae? All they had was Jay’s testimony, which brings me to my second reason as to why Adnan is innocent of the murder of Hae Lee.…
