Beginning at a young age, Americans are taught that they need to gain a higher education, so they can have a decent career one day. According to Caryl and Barnett, women are expected to be as successful as men throughout their education but once they apply for a position they are not treated the same way. (8) For the first time ever women make up half of the educated labor force. However, "These dramatic gains have not translated into money & influence," (3). Regardless of race, beliefs, gender and sexuality, two people with the same abilities should have equal opportunities to be hired for a position. When a woman gets a job she must work even harder to get noticed by the people with higher positions. Some women attend extra trainings to attain a more powerful position within their company, yet it is uncertain that they will obtain a leadership position. When she did not receive the presidency in 2008, Neil Cavuto from Fox News specifically said himself "Men won't vote for Hillary Clinton because she reminds them of their nagging wives. And when Hillary Clinton speaks we hear 'Take out the garbage" (5). In 2016, Hillary lost to a very unprofessional, inappropriate man President Donald Trump. President Trump would talk about his strange attraction to his wife's daughter, insult Hillary in non-political ways, and make unintellectual responses in interviews on television. Yet, the people of America still managed to vote him in as the president of the United States, claiming that he was just being straight forward. When President Trump began his term, many Americans were posting on different social media sites complaining about America's new president. People thought he would be better than who he turned out to be. Regardless of their sex, a person who acts a certain way is not that way because of a stereotype. Just like males, females should be perceived as hard working people that are only trying to me things the best they can possibly be, not anything
