The Patriots Argumentative Analysis

Decent Essays
Thus far, I believe the Patriots have created a stronger argument for resistance based on Locke’s principles. It seems the Patriots are willing to create order, while still gaining freedom. With the courts open, we can achieve liberty and order in the colonies. Despite the Patriots’ view of the courts, I disagree with the non-importation agreement. On the Loyalists’ side, I agree that the mobs are disrupting society and there should be laws to maintain order. However, I do not appreciate not having a voice in government. My votes are powerful and can help influence either faction. As you can see, I am torn between the Patriots and the Loyalists. I am willing to hear more opinions from both the Patriots and the Loyalists. Using my best judgement,

In the article, Catton briefly stated some comparison concerning Lee and Grant, as well. One of the similarities that he mention was they were both determined to end the war peacefully. This comparison can be proven when Catton stated, “To turn quickly from the war to peace once the fighting was over . . . in the end, help the two sections to become one nation again,” concerning Lee and Grant. I know that sounds crazy but hear me out for a second. Tom Brady and the New England Patriots are ready to make NFL history by appearing in their seventh super bowl. Tom is going for his fifth ring, which will give him more rings than any other quarterback separating himself from Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw. With a number of Super Bowl wins, countless records, this is the time to pull the trigger and move Brady. Well, sort of.…

I was surprised at how difficult I found this decision, as I have always been told the story of the American revolution from the viewpoint of the revolutionaries, but in seeing the opposing viewpoint of the loyalists I can see why they desired to remain with Britain. However I still find Adam’s argument to be superior as he represents the values that have been instilled in me throughout my entire life, that liberty and democracy are worth dying for. Though I find Sewall’s argument compelling, and I can agree that to a certain extent the colonists were being unreasonable, his unwillingness to really consider that the British authorities might be overstepping their power and taking away the colonist’s liberties is where he loses…

Are the arguments posited by Patrick Henry and Thomas Paine effective? Of course they are, did they not persuade their people to fight against Britain, for their rights. Patrick Henry spoke about a war that had not yet begun, he spoke of it with urgency, as if there was no time to question it. He decided that he needed to get people involved in his speech, he needed people to think about what he was saying, to choose between the good and the bad. Thomas Paine did the same thing, he used emotion to get through the people sitting before him.…

When the Patriots revolted against our mother country’s rule, they were in the wrong. Great Britain had supported our small, disorganized colonies through all our hardships and was our dear mother country. Our past lives and roots are in British soil, and to disobey the place of our roots is to completely disregard everything the British did for us, like protect us during the French and Indian War. Great Britain has protected us from hardships in our new land and has supported our endeavors since the beginning. We should not be rebelling against the country that has supplied us, and continues to supply us, with the things we’ve needed to expand the empire; we should not violently break away from our mother country, but instead protest these…

There was a lot of conflict in Boston in 1777. The Boston Massacre had just happened, a British officer in charge Captain Thomas Preston was arrested for manslaughter, the British officials enforced the Townshend Act, and three people were shot and two died, including Crispus Attucks. Many frightened residents of Boston had to pick sides, loyalists, patriots, or just to remain neutral. It is impossible to know which side the American colonists favored, however, I favor the Patriots because I want America to gain their independence and land from Britain.…

The exact number of American colonists who favored or opposed independence will never be known for certain. The Patriots were strong in Virginia, as well as New England. The majority of the Loyalists lived in the Carolinas, New York, and Georgia. The Loyalists were not very well organized, so when the Patriots attacked, the odds were in the Patriots favor. Patriots would often boycott British goods, the source to that would be First Continental Congress who initiated the boycott, causing the Loyalists to fight…

Our king has been receiving resistance from the colonies since 1765 until this day when the war has ended, and the winner has been declared. It is only fair that we receive opinions and concerns from both the victors and the losers. The king is not very keen on the fact that his own people rebelled, which was vividly illustrated by his actions and words, Such as this quote straight from our former king’s mouth to your very own reliable newspaper, “Everyone who does not agree with me is a traitor and a scoundrel”, and also by actively punishing the people of the colonies with the so called “Coercive Acts”…
