Abortion plays a large role on the relationship between the parents of the child, who was aborted because of the parents’ decision. The parents often feel their love for one another has changed because of the psychological stress that abortion puts on the family with the feelings of regret, shame and silence. Philippa Taylor found the mothers usually feel “[a] lack of love for them [and] consequently the relationships deteriorated and ended shortly after” (94). The mother of the child goes through stress and pain which causes them to feel unloved. One of the participants stayed in a relationship after the abortion however she said “I was constantly crying and feeling really depressed and grieving. That loss, I’ve never felt anything like that”
