One of the most important reasons for the project charter is to document all the major components of the project. According to Coplan and Masuda (2011), the major components of a project charter, which is created once the business case and feasibility study have been completed, includes the objectives, scope, timeline, budget, organization chart identifying the project sponsor and the team members with roles and responsibilities, risks and how they will be mitigated, and authorization for the project to proceed.
