Hinton giving the idea that the both groups struggle with trying to overcome or maintain the stereotype created for each gang. This idea also shows the shared similarity on how both gangs scrap to write their own stories isn’t always like rainbows and butterflies. In the article “Allure to Gangs” by Secondary Solutions describes “ Often, kids who join gangs feel alienated...A difficult home can affect their lives… become more vulnerable to gangs.”. This is important because the Greasers and the Socs both either have no one to take care of them or their parents never have time for them.
