The outsiders is still a meaning used today. To me the word “outsider” stands for your social status. Like a misfit, when you feel as though you do not belong. When you are different from the people around you. To not have many friends or to not live in the status people want you to. When people shun you out, you are an outsider. She was talking how they felt out of place from everyone else. About how Ponyboy loved sunsets and reading, while most greasers like rumbles and getting in trouble. Ponyboy felt he did not belong with the other outsiders. How Johnny felt too weak to be a greaser. How Darry could’ve grown up to be a soc if it wasn’t for Pony and Soda. He felt out of place by the greasers. It was the group in a whole that had their own problems or specialties that made them feel out of place, make them feel like an outsider. S.E Hinton was an amazing writing that didn’t need to show what being an outsider means. She shows you the feelings they go through that made them that way. Today you can still see people being casted out in society. For how they act, talk, their race, what they like, you could be considered an outsider no matter what you do. I feel like this shouldn’t be a problem anymore. We should all learn to love and accept each other. That there shouldn’t be socs and greasers. That we shouldn’t be considered an outsider for how much money we have. Hinton wanted to get a point
