I believe that it should be required because it brings more of an understanding to what a utopia is. I think that more people should realize that it is impossible to have a perfect utopia. In the story omelas seems as if it is a very happy, festive, fun, and amazing place, it's perfect. At first glance, it looks like a perfect utopia. The theme that I think of the story is that nothing is perfect. I think that this can go into many different things in our daily lives. Whether it is a person or an assignment, or possibly even a utopian/town. I feel like reading this story could definitely change the way people look at other people or anything in general. In my personal opinion, a lot of people look at others and they think they have a perfect life. They want to be like them, but in this story, it shows that no matter how perfect something seems there’s almost always a fault.
