The Nurse, usually known for being the kind and carefree caretaker of the Capulet family, but could she have been responsible for the tragic deaths of the two families children? Today, the Nurse of unspecified name will be brought to light for her crimes and suffer the consequences of her actions. The Nurse’s actions almost singlehandedly set the war between the families in motion, because of her neglect to use common sense when the situation at clearly needed to and being the middleman for passing notes between the two dearly departed, thus killing many people in the process because of it. And hopefully she will pay for her crimes and injustice.
For a start, the Nurse’s wisdom and intuition should have foreseen what would go wrong with the situation at hand and she could have prevented the deaths of the children, for all sakes and purposes, she should have known better. Not only that but she also caused this by telling Juliet herself that it was A-ok to marry whoever she feels like despite the consequences. And, because of these actions, nobody could stop Romeo and Juliet from killing themselves until it was too late. Plus, by giving Romeo’s letter to Juliet she officially became the medium between the two, when again, she could’ve told anyone at any time. She very clearly describes that Romeo is an “honorable gentlemen who is courteous, kind… and… virtuous” (Sparknotes II, 5, 47-49). Even though, at this point she even knows who Romeo is. She, at the time refused to talk Juliet out of it and to snap some sense into her. As a result of this, by being the one directly involved with the two she made a true error that would ultimately kill them
