For me, as a kid exercising came in the form of fun and games like playing hopscotch, climbing trees, and running around the play ground with friends. Unfortunately, I eventually grow older and exercising became much more complex. Not only is my body much different from when I was younger, but my interests shifted as well. Workout facilities such as, Anytime Fitness, Lifetime Fitness, and Plant Fitness have become the new playground for exercising. One of the things that doesn’t change, however, is the fact that exercising is always important no matter how old you are. Many people understand that exercising is the best way to keep your body healthy and lean even if they don’t live by it, but what people don’t realize is that it has a major impact on your mental health and happiness. Part of the reason people don’t realize this is because there is much less evidence on the impact of exercising on your brain rather than on your body. While many psychologists prescribe medicines for mild mental illnesses, exercise can replace the many drugs and has no negative side effects. Many doctors treat their patients by prescribing physical exercise for its anti-depressant effects. In children exercise reduces levels of mental illnesses, psychological distress, and emotional disturbances, while improving their confidence levels. In addition to depression and anxiety, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder can also be present and again, there is a large relationship between physical activity and the symptoms of this disorder. For instance many children who suffer from this disorder struggle with regulating their emotions, self-consciousness, executive functioning, and focusing on a goal.
