Sometimes it’s important to know who you are being nice to sometimes it could cause regret and could get you into situations in which you feel uncomfortable and mixed emotions. In the Story of “white Sands” by Geoff Dyer .The couple in this story came across a situation that put them in a position that felt unsafe and uncomfortable by doing an act of kindness to a complete hitch-hiker stranger. The couple first observed and took a brief look at hitch-hiker as they picked him up from the road assuming he look fine and harmless, as the story counties the couple goes through variety of emotions from feeling safe to anxiety fear and back to feeling safe and relived.

The couple begins to experiment different feeling of doubt and wonders of who could really be this mysterious hitch-hiker they have in their car thoughts of regret and fear began to develop with thin the couple writer begins to wonder his minds to different thoughts regarding the hitch-hiker while the wife continues to keeping her eyes on the road the writer then decides to turn on the radio to break the silence, the radio was playing “Riders on the storm” by the doors (dyer 537) the writer then mentions few moments later they heard “Jim Morrison Crooning: there’s a killer on the road”(Dyer 537) . This created more tension, panic and fear to the couple the hitch-hiker cannot bear to be in the car with all the anxiety and tens in the car he tries explaining himself but the reader is so nervous creating scary thoughts that keep him unable to concentrate to his story. They soon stop to a gas station while writer is pumping gas the hitch-hiker uses the bathroom and tells him face to face not to leave without him but writer instantly gets back and hurriedly drives away with his wife. Not knowing who he was or where he was really coming from. The couple begun to prejudge this hitch-hiker with fear thoughts thinking he was probably a killer or a convicted inmate of a prison. They felt so much fear until they escape the situation they got themselves into. I could say that begin in this situation could be very intense not easy to handle but I could say that if I was in this situation I would handle this different since the begging thinking about him being a complete stranger I would of never gave him a ride even though at the moment it might look a nice thing to do I would of thought of my safety first you never know who the hitch-hiker is when it comes to danger .I probably would of stop and gave him some money to catch a cub or call one for him to help him out . But in a case that I decided to gave him a ride like the couple did the minute I feel my life is in danger or uncomfortable I would stop to the nearest gas station with people around and ask him to please step out of my car and apologized and give him an excused for not beginning able to continue the ride help him with money to continue his trip.
