However, we have the technology, resources, and ability to make a difference and to stop or at the very least limit our impact on climate change. One of the greatest factors going against stopping climate change is getting people to believe in it, and to do something about it. Many are aware of the issue, but not many are doing anything to stop it. Something as simple as changing your light bulb to an energy efficient bulb can make a difference. Switching to driving an electric car rather than a gas powered car, and investing in renewable energy are some other things that individuals can do to prevent global warming. (Global warming solutions). In my opinion, the most important thing is to stay educated about these issues and to take action. It is no use if one know 's all of the information, but does nothing with it. We need to speak up and take action, or else our one and only home could soon be destroyed. The diffusion of innovation theory clearly shows that when about 50% of the population accepts and begins to adapt to a new idea or behavior that is when it has the most momentum and is at it 's peak. People who know the effects of climate change, deforestation, rapidly melting glaciers, and yet do nothing to stop the process often believe that if clear cutting forests and driving cars that contribute to the global greenhouse gas emission is legal then it must be alright. (Making ethical decisions: obstacles). Politicians have an ethical responsibility to protect people, but they do not always fulfill their responsibilities. The forest that is being clearcut can not speak up for itself, therefore we need to do our part and tell our governors and senators to take action and do what they are ethically obligated to do. We as occupants of this planet have an ethical obligation to stand up, and protect it. Others say that if everyone is not taking steps to prevent climate change than one person doing it would not make a difference. In other words if everyone is doing it then it is alright. However, one person, and one little step in the right direction can make all the
