The book “The Monkey’s Paw” and the play that we went and watched at ISU were same at some points but they were also different at some spots. The book, like all books, went deeper than the play did. In fact, the book was actually more enjoyable for me because I understood it more. I loved watching the play and reading the book, and now i’m going to compare and contrast them.
The plot of the story differed in some spots but in most spots it was the same. One of them is when Mrs. White goes outside and Mr. White tells her to come back in was explained in both of them. It was based off of fate. If you try to mess with fate, bad things will happen. The difference is how they were explained. The book went over the idea that fate ruled a lot more clearer. It went deeper than the play did. The play went over the idea that fate rules but not as clear as the book did. It stated stuff about fate but the book did a way better job explaining it. There was Mr. and Mrs. White, Herbert, and Major Morris. They all appear in the book and the play. The book explains Major Morris as a man, who was a former military Sergeant. The play showed Major Morris as a women. It explained that she was his wife and that he had died in the military. After reading the book and watching the play, I was kind of confused because I didn’t know if Major Morris was a man or a woman.
