The book “The Monkey’s Paw” and the play that we went and watched at ISU were same at some points but they were also different at some spots. The book, like all books, went deeper than the play did. In fact, the book was actually more enjoyable for me because I understood it more. I loved watching the play and reading the book, and now i’m going to compare and contrast them.

The plot of the story differed in some spots but in most spots it was the same. One of them is when Mrs. White goes outside and Mr. White tells her to come back in was explained in both of them. Another is when she is trying to let Herbert in and the bolt falls. Those were both explained in the book and the play. There were also some differences. The book started off

It went deeper than the play did. The play went over the idea that fate rules but not as clear as the book did. It stated stuff about fate but the book did a way better job explaining it. There was Mr. and Mrs. White, Herbert, and Major Morris. They all appear in the book and the play. The book explains Major Morris as a man, who was a former military Sergeant. The play showed Major Morris as a women. It explained that she was his wife and that he had died in the military. After reading the book and watching the play, I was kind of confused because I didn’t know if Major Morris was a man or a woman.

The Monkey’s paw was a great book and play. It explained an important life lesson that was not to mess with fate. If you do, there are going to be major consequences. The Whites thought that if they used the monkey’s paw it would change their fate. They couldn’t have been more wrong. They messed with their fate and Herbert ended up dying because of it. The Whites lost their son because they thought that if they used the monkey’s paw to get money, it would work and they could be rich. They tried to make their life better by using a wish, and they lost something very important to

In W.W. Jacobs novel “The Monkey’s Paw” he keeps the reader in suspense by creating tension. Jacobs uses foreshadowing as one of his main tools in the story to show the menacing results of wishing on the monkey’s paw, not wanting the whites to experience what others have suffered. In addition, he foreshadows a climatic ending by leaving the monkey’s paw with two wishes remaining in the White’s possession. The multiple reocurrences of foreshadowing creates the suspense that results in the readers keeping interesting and wanting to know more about the…

How would you feel if you were approached at random in your own home to go to a place where each day you’d be fighting for your life? Well, this was what happened to Ender Wiggins. Ender’s Game is a science fiction story focusing on battles between different armies throughout space. It leads to a search for different soldiers all trying for one ultimate goal: beating the returning champions, the “Buggers.” When looking at both the film and the novel, in my opinion, the book was superior.…

I feel like the movie was very similar to the play. Although, there were many differences that I think were sprinkled in, to make it more visually appealing to the audience. For example, the biggest difference between the play and the movie was that the movie started out with all of the girls in the forest, doing witchcraft. I feel that this was a smart idea because it is easier to follow along and understand the big deal of what really happened in the forest, especially when there isn’t a narrator like there is in the play. On the other hand, the play references back to the time that they were in the forests.…

So, I felt like they really were the same and that's a good thing.    On the other hand, the plot in the play to me went way faster than the story did. They would not be able to act everything out that was in the book. Or else it would take way longer and it would be kind of hard to act up every detail. I mean they did a phenomenal job but if it did not read the story I would not understand…

In the play, his character name is Mr. Kraler, but in the movie he is called Mr. Koogler. Another difference is when Anne receives her diary. In the movie, she receives it as a present for her 13th birthday, while in the play, she gets it after they’ve moved into the annex. The last difference is that in the movie, Mr. Koogler stays healthy throughout the story, but in the play, Mr. Kraler goes to the hospital.…

Movies have always had a way of bringing to life the written word. When a modern movie tries to portray the thoughts of long age, sometimes the perceptions of the modern world infiltrate the storyline. These perceptions can be seen when analyzing the movie versus the book of Solomon Northup’s 12 Years A Slave. Director Steve McQueen and screenwriter John Ridley were able to infuse the essence of Northup’s book, while also adding the views from now with regard to slavery.…

A play and a novel are two very different ways of telling a plot of a story. In the play A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry the audience is able to feel involved in the story through many aspects. Usually in novels it is consistent with one point of view through the story. However, in a play the audience is able to gain perspective from most of the characters. The stage directions in a play gives the reader an insight on the actions taken among a character.…
