It is wrongful and inexcusable to change the name of a civilization after it has been conquered, this referring to the Spaniard’s assigned name for the Mexica civilization. The Spanish may have changed the Mexica’s name in effort to rid the population of its culture so it can be lost forever. This would make it easier for the survivors and new generations to forget their roots. Changing the name of the Mexica’s was unjust, as what a culture names themselves is a significant portion of the culture and its people. In the same way, the Canadian culture would be equally devastated if one were to conquer our country and change our name. What’s in a name?
