By doing this you see the indirect characterization that odysseus is a manipulative character. Moreover, Odysseus is using manipulation to convince the king that he is wise and sensitive.Within the episode of “I Am Laertes Son”, Odysseus is retelling the story of how he ended up on the king's island, utilizing manipulation. He says.“I stormed that place and killed the men who fought./ Plunder we took, and enslaved

Odysseus displays consistent determination during the Odyssey as witnessed through the determination he exhibits overcoming many of the challenges which he faces. There were distinct issues that I had to overcome and problem-solve in order to regain strength and stability to finish the season; and I wasn’t sure if I had the determination to overcome this latest setback. The entire storyline of The Odyssey is defined by Odysseus’s perseverance.…

For example, in The Odyssey, the main hero, Odysseus, has to face many difficult choices in order to get to his home in Ithaca. In the Odyssey, Odysseus travels a long journey back to his home, Ithaca, after fighting in the Trojan War for 10 long years. However, I strongly believe Odysseus himself was the reason that he witnessed a long journey returning to his homeland. If he hadn’t made specific decisions, I’d expect that Odysseus would be able to return earlier. In the epic, I believe that three major decisions could’ve helped Odysseus sail back towards home sooner if he had chosen the right choice. One of the significant decisions is Odysseus’ accord to rest on the Cyclops’ island and approach the Cyclops’ cave.…

He goes on impossible adventures for the average man; He successfully leads his crew through the sea, or does he? Even though Odysseus may show that he is clever, he also shows that he does not listen, is very temperamental, and is untrustworthy; Because of these character traits, he cannot be an effective leader. To begin, Odysseus shows multiple times that he does not listen to his crew. His crew tries to warn him of the multiple dangers that were to come from his actions, yet he refuses to listen, putting several of his crew’s lives in danger, and even killing a few of them.…

The famous epic poem by Homer, The Odyssey, tells of Odysseus’ tumultuous journey back to his home on the island of Ithaka. Odysseus, the main character in the epic poem, appears to be the hero slaying the monsters, but as his journey continues it becomes more difficult to distinguish who the monster really is. Upon closer inspection, the true monster is not one of the various mythical creates Odysseus faces, but is instead Odysseus himself. Passages from book nine and book 22 of The Odyssey, demonstrate how the true monster is actually Odysseus. Odysseus and his men arrive on an island, in book nine, and enter a cave seeking to steal any valuable loot they can find.…

Throughout his journey, Odysseus relies on himself and his tricks for his own glory and fame. He announces himself in flattering ways, full of pride and self worth saying: “I am Odysseus, son of Laertes, known before all men / for the study of crafty things, and my fame goes up to the heavens” (9.19-20). The pride in his voice when he announces himself to Alkinoos, king of the Phaiakians, saturates every word he speaks. He rashly brags of his fame and reputation of being devious. When Odysseus tricked Polyphemus with lofty words into drinking the divine wine so that he can put out the eye of the cyclops and escape, he visibly delights in his own deviousness, saying “the heart within me laughed over how my … perfect planning had fooled him”(9.413-14).…
