The Main Political Causes Of The English Civil Wars

The main political causes of the English Civil Wars were due to Charles I ignoring the parliament. Charles I continuous acts of ignoring the Parliamentarian rules were the cause of most of the troubles of the English Civil Wars. After Charles was out of money after his spending and on the Scottish Rebellion he asked Parliament. The Parliament which was angered by Charles I decisions refused to lend money to the King after opposing the idea of an invasion of Scotland. This opposition of whether or not to invade Scotland created tension between the King and the Parliament. With Charles I unwillingness to give up his divine right Parliament declined to give him any funds. To make up for the funds he would not receive from Parliament, Charles was forced to create income through raising taxes, without the approval of the Parliament. Another political cause of the English Civil Wars was Charles I decision to give common land to the wealthy. The main religious causes of the English Civil Wars Charles I push for Catholicism within England, which the Parliament did not agree with. The execution of Charles I led to the resolved issue of the differing views between the parliamentarians about Charles I. After finding out Charles has secretly been raising a Catholic army to resume the war against Parliament, Charles I put on trial treason and was later executed after going against Parliament rule. The main political change that resulted was that the English monarch could govern without Parliament's permission. This main issue that resulted from the civil wars was that England was now known a republic and was ruled by Oliver Cromwell. The new government finally stated that power was controlled by the
