College students face a variety of difficult things during any single regular day of life. One important thing many college students face is the problem with not getting enough sleep. Studies show the average college student gets about an hour or two less than the adequate amount. In this passage I will compare my own sleep patterns to the findings of other studies. Most college students ages range on average from about 18-24 and this age range calls for usually about 9 hours or sleep per night. These 9 hours of sleep should be uninterrupted, where one wakes up no more than one time per night. Most men and women call for about the same amount of sleep per night. It is proven that not getting enough sleep can have huge consequences. On average most college students get around 7 or 8 hours of sleep per night. Some factors include school work, friends, social events, sporting events, and more but these can all cause stress which can cause anxiety and keeps people awake at night. I know personal I have spent many long nights awake doing homework, hanging out with friends, stressing over sporting events, or various other things that have kept me from getting an adequate amount of sleep. On average, I usually get around 7 hours of sleep. This is around 2 hours less than the recommended amount and usually I do feel drowsy throughout the day. A college student, such as me that has to balance academics, athletics, friends, family, and more, has trouble finding time sometimes to get enough sleep. I believe not getting enough sleep definitely affects my academics because sometimes I am just exhausted and I cannot give my full effort into my school work. For me or any college student, it can be tough to balance the work load and give your all into
