The terrorist cult or “The Invisible Empire” also known as the Ku Klux Klan or for short the KKK is the representation of chaos in the late 1800’s due to the Reconstruction-era. The Ku Klux Klan was founded by a confederate general in 1866, the KKK movement was nursed from prejudice and hate (The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, “A Ku Klux Klan threat”, July 25,2012).The signature identity of the Klan are ghostly white sheets, the members of the clan represent the ghost of the confederate dead returning to terrorize african americans, and republicans. White racial oppression is the key element that holds the Ku Klux Klan together with their terrorist attacks of murder, bombings and hangings in the south.

The Ku Klux Klan extended into almost every southern state by 1870 it became a white southern-resistance due to the form of the civil rights movement. Although the Klan did form partially because of the civil rights movement it also banned together for many other reasons, the republicans party reconstruction era dimed at political and economic equality for blacks. The reason for restoring white dominance was because whites feared that blacks would overpower them, black families free before the Civil War were determined to have an education. Blacks formed union groups for education and political reasons white southerners saw a threat to freed slaves strength. From 1866-1871 members of the Ku Klux Klan killed hundreds of black southerners, sexually molested black women and drove blacks away from their homes.
