The Johnson Family Analysis

The Johnson family has created a family-oriented home for their two sons. Donny and Kelley always put their children first and themselves last. Their socioeconomic conditions are different to some but not all. They have dual-income. Donny works as an IT consultant and is able to work from home and Kelley is a cardiac nurse and only works on the weekends specifically the night shifts so she can stay home with the boys which enabled them to save money by not having to put them in daycare. They live in a middle class neighborhood located in the city of Charleston. Both Donny and Kelley went to the local university (College of Charleston). They are a traditional family and do not have any extended family that live with them. The Johnson family is heavily involved at their church, constantly volunteering and helping out there as well as their kids’ schools. Kelley belongs to a mommy group that gets together with kids once a week at least and Donny is a member of the local Billiards club that meets every Monday night. They are very protective of their two sons and only let their parents or their babysitter watch Henry and Harry. Some stressors on the family are weekend nights while Kelley is at work the boys often miss their mom which causes misbehavior but they also had a very hard time getting therapy for Harry. They have to pay out of pocket for his speech therapy that he attends twice a week. They tried Child Find but insurance still doesn’t cover it. …show more content…
After I talked to the family friend that had mentioned them I realized their family was a bit more complex than I thought. The Johnson family has a traditional family structure for the most part but what makes their family diverse is Harry has a learning disability specifically his delayed speech and need for speech therapy. When I interviewed the family I realized even more how complex their family
