Japanese Sense Of Seasons: Chapter Summary

I will write about “ The Japanese sense of the seasons”. In the book, the author says that Japanese people have a strong sense of the seasons. Because Japanese people had been engaged in agriculture, their lives depended on the seasons. The time of planting seeds, giving fertilizer, and harvesting food are all depended on seasons. So they treasured four seasons, and thanks to this, a lot of seasonal events were formed. I agree that the past Japanese people had strong sense of the seasons. Although some European countries have 4 seasons, I feel that no other countries have stronger sense of seasons than Japan. For examples, UK has 4 well-defined seasons, but it is also said that there are 4 seasons in a day. So the sense of seasons can’t be much stronger. I believe that Japanese people have good sense of seasons. However the situation has changed. So I want to write about the differences between past and now. First, in the book, the author says Japan has 6 seasons if including rainy season and typhoon season. Of course there were well-defined seasons and Japanese people enjoyed each seasons. However, recently, Japan has become nearly 2 seasons, summer and winter. In spring, the temperature goes up and down. We can’t say the line …show more content…
We can live comfortable without such sense. I think the worst demerit is living far away from the nature. To be sensitive to the seasons is same to be sensitive to the nature. Living far away from nature cause the destruction of nature. We turn on air-conditionings through a year and eat ice cream with wearing T-shirt although it is in winter. We eat sweet potato in summer although it is shun food of autumn and winter. Making food in not suit season uses a lot of energy and cost. These things are contributed to global warming and destruction of nature. We must have a feeling that these things are strange. Having strong sense of seasons can be a good solution to environmental

This quotes foreshadows hardships on the life of the creature because of the on a “dreary night” and the month of November.…

The weather can change drastically form one year to the next making it hard for the public to feel or notice the long-term climate changes. I also have a better sense of the reality of the climate changes that are in fact occurring. Our area has suffered with ongoing drought for many years now and warming winters or longer summers may provide some explanation for this. Climate change is not just a global issue but a local one that we all could be more aware of and do our part in mitigating future…

In Ray Bradbury’s October Country, we see the theme of autumn’s weather play out in multiple stories. In his story The Lake he gives us a setting of the ending of summer and the beginning of autumn, “It was September. In the last days when things are getting sad for no reason. [sic] The beach was so long and lonely with only about six people on it. The kids quit bouncing the ball because somehow the wind made them sad, too whistling the way it did, and the kids sat down and felt autumn come along the endless shore.”…

Spring is one of my favorite seasons. Everyone is getting out of that winter slump, the plants are coming back to life, and the birds are singing. But in the midst of the pretty flowers and baby bunnies, comes the dreaded seasonal allergies. For myself, this means rubbing my eyes until it looks like I’ve just watched a heartbreaking romantic comedy, sneezing so powerfully that it physically hurts, and itching my nose and giving myself a lovely (insert sarcasm here) horizontal crease. Allergies drive me crazy, but at the same time, I’m amazed at how it works and the reason behind having allergies.…

Human beings have always used Mother Nature as an object for healing. Before there was synthetic medication, like penicillin, people turned to the natural world for antidotes to remedy what was considered to be abnormal. The world of medicine was split into two as synthetic drugs emerged; one was western medicine, where synthetic drugs are highly utilized, and the other was eastern medicine, where natural remedies still dominate. Treatments for mental illnesses today are mostly dealt with by using the western medicine approach, but what if nature itself is a cure or a factor that can alleviate the symptoms of these illnesses? Before the urbanization of the world, exposure to nature was a daily occurrence for people. As the years…

Other variations like the tilt and precession of Earth also affects the natural warming and cooling process of the climate. The Earth’s angle determines the intensity of the season changes. For example, if the planet has an increasing axial tilt, the contrast increases so the summer would be warmer and winter will be colder. Precession is the wobbling of the Earth on its axis back and forth. It determines how long or short the seasons would be.…
