Juliet had taken a vial the Friar gave her of an herbal medicinal concoction that would put her to sleep, “Romeo, Romeo, Romeo! Here’s drink. I drink to thee” (IV.iii.59-60) then she fell into a sleep like death. Juliet would never had done something so drastic as to risk not waking up again because of a sleeping potion if she hadn’t been so in love. These irrational acts of love prove that when a person is really in love with someone they are willing to make rash decisions completely out of character for that specific individual.
