During the eighteenth century, merchant ships from the Americas as well as Great Britain frequently visited Africa to capture and enslave people of that country. The global economy thrived on sea-going adventures and agricultural activities, and the white farmers and sailors were dependent on these dark-skinned people as a labor force for their livelihood.
