Compared to previous times when the main intermediaries used to spread information were letters or mouths, the proliferation of social media has accelerated the spread of information dramatically and has enhanced the efficiency of the society noticeably. Although the increased exposure causes a short-term backlash in the communities such as the people who are blackmailed for money, covering the topic of the people who are blackmailed for money frequently in the media and discussing the idea in everyday interactions actually can improve society’s understanding of the community more than it harms the community. After Yu sent her to the hospital, the old lady denied his help, sued him and blackmailed his money. The trial lasted for a long time. Although it came to reconciliation in the end, this incident attracted lots of attention within the society, because the media tracked the report for the whole time. (Li, Li) On July 24th, 2015, an old man from Sichuan, China accidentally fell down from the bike when he was driving across the cross. After a while, a student who was riding a bike passed by and asked him about his situation. To the student’s surprise, the old man framed him and wouldn 't let him go if he would not give him the money. Fortunately, the spy cam recorded everything and it turned out that the student was completely innocent. (Li, Zhi) Helping people in need is a human nature, is where the subconscious lies. Nevertheless, the reports from the media in some ways has made the community more complicated and more indifferent. People become overwhelming after hearing the reports from the media and stop trusting each other in the community. There were lots of people passing by during the rushing hour, but most of the people chose to ignore. Few people stopped and hesitated, but still chose to walk away. Finally Mr.Li called the police and the ambulance, the old man was sent to the hospital just in time. Mr.Li said he was afraid that he might be entailed into blackmail if he send the old man to the hospital by himself and that is why he decided to call the police immediately. (Zhao.) After a series of incidents associated with blackmail which I have mentioned above, many Chinese people now have adjusted the procedures when helping others in need. For example, if they want to help people who fall down, they will first find some witnesses and then take a picture of the scene as proof, or they will just call the police. In these ways, people can not only do the good deeds, but also can avoid situations which may get them into trouble. It is actually a win-win situation since people reserve their sympathy and rationality
