The media pay special attention to the President and the White House. President Obama is one of the most involved presidents on new and social media. He uses new and social media to effectively and directly reach audiences based on specific demographics. By targeting audiences who are not paying attention to traditional media, the President engages them in new and social media instead. “Digital media and audience engagement have become to the functioning of the Obama White House” (Eilperin, 2015).
Our President and the White House directly reach the public without going through traditional media. Traditional media outlets are denied access to his Presidential affairs. This tactic allows the White House to reach a larger target audience “without the filter of the traditional media, target its audience with precision and receive almost immediate feedback” (Eilperin, 2015). Sometimes this relationship experiences uneven good and conflicting times.
For the media, fulfilling a watchdog role is compromised by the President's role in social media and avoidance of traditional media outlets and reports. The media is responsible for keeping the public informed on topics such as the President. Regular press conferences and interviews are conducted but President Obama has done only

In a recent coverage on Fox news, as showed in class, the news reporter, Megyn Kelly, debated over Obama’s Obama Care (Joyella, 2011). Kelly argues that Rep. Steve Cohen did not apologize for controversial language used television comparing republicans to Natzi’s (Joyella, 2011). Rep. Steve Cohen’s speech was presented about Obama Care. Unfortunately, Kelly did not argue for the substance of the speech, which was Obama Care, but emphasized the argument of an apology (Joyella, 2011). This is one example of reporting on Presidential affairs lacking substance but framing the American audience
