Population aging, a worldwide phenomenon is changing age structure of the society. The world’s population proportion of aged 60 years or over increased by 4 percent (from 8 to 12 percent) since 1950 to 2013 (UN, 2013). It is predicted that it will rapidly increase in the next four decades, reaching 21 percent in 2050 (UN, 2013). In the U.S. the proportion of people more than 65 years represented about 14.1 percent (44.7 million), about one in every seven Americans in 2013 (ACL, 2014). By 2040, it is expected to reach 21.7% of the total U.S. population. Surprisingly by 2060, it is anticipated that the population aged 60 years and above will be more than twice (around 98 million) than their number in 2013 (ACL, 2014). These statistics are sobering,
