In the Gospel of Luke, we are told that through the power of the Holy Spirit, the Incarnation came to be accurate. An angel named Gabriel appears to Mary and tells her that you will have a child named Jesus. Knowing that Jesus means “God saves”, she is confused because she has never had relations with a man. Gabriel goes on to explain to her that her son will be the Son of God, the most holy and divine. This account proves that Jesus was developed by the Holy Spirit to start his work of salvation on Earth.

If Jesus had not become human, there would not have been someone to proclaim the word of God. The disciples would have been living, but Jesus would not have been able to point them out and show them what God wanted for them. Although some people strongly disagreed with Jesus and his beliefs, they were still able to learn and listen to what Jesus had to say. When Jesus was willing to die on the cross to save out sins, we recognize that he was giving us salvation. Even for Pontius Pilate who demanded that Jesus be killed, it must have been a truly powerful moment to see someone sacrificing their lives to save other peoples sins.
The Incarnation is extremely important for my understanding of Jesus. When I think of Jesus, I think of him before he died on the cross, not as a young boy. When Jesus preached and spread the Good News, people recognized him as a savior that was actually on the Earth. If I was living at the time of Jesus, I would have been amazed at his preaching and just Jesus himself. When I pray to Jesus, I often times think what it would have been like living in the time of Jesus. I think knowing that Jesus walked on Earth like we do really helps me comprehend the true meaning of the
